Hello from WordPress!! I’ve migrated here from Blogger – I’ll post more on all the “sturm un Drang” later, but let me just say ~ I was beginning to think I was running some kind of political campaign for a failed candidate …. sheesh!!! Add to that, all the pressure to become part of the “cloud” … nope, I make my niche here, thank you very much!!!!

Congratulations! I was beginning to think I was a lone voice crying out against the Google Gobble (my first small post about that was https://lloydsofrochester.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/taking-steps-to-free-myself-from-the-overreaching-grasp-of-google-2/). I have another in draft, I just haven’t calmed down enough to finish it.
Nope, you are NOT the only one with Google problems. It’s been over a year and I’m STILL trying to find a way to convince them that my email is actually MY email. My most stunned moment in the whole process was when they told me that my driver’s license was not a secure, certifiable form of identification! Really? The ID is use to fly, make transactions, prove to the rest of the world is NOT a secure, acceptable or certifiable form of ID? Really? I’m going to post all the ins-and-outs of this story – but I still shake my head. Of course, you and I both know, you are not dealing with someone at Gmail – it’s all computerized and if your answers don’t match the magical algorithmic formula … (HONK) wrong answer … LOL
Huh?!? They are asking for driver’s licenses for identification? For what new (nefarious?) purpose now, and when did that start? Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t know about that before I did further work on my languishing “minor rant” about Google and finally posted it (https://lloydsofrochester.wordpress.com/2012/05/12/google-we-are-the-borg-you-will-be-assimilated/). Their hubris is truly breathtaking! My next post on the subject (which will take rather longer to write) will be about some of the alternatives out there and some of the further steps I have taken. Perhaps you will blog about that, too.
